Director of Show Choir and Choral Activities

Mr. Gilbar is excited to be a part of the Gillette College staff as Director of Show Choir and looks forward to the opportunities to develop a thriving performance ensemble, which will represent the college and the Gillette community. Mr. Gilbar graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor in Music Education and Vocal Performance, and is now concentrating on completing a Masters in Choral Conducting and Vocal Performance from Lynchburg College. While at the University of Kentucky, Mr. Gilbar stayed busy performing in musicals and operas such as The Boyfriend, Lend Me a Tenor, Hair, Into the Woods, Fiddler on the Roof, Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Magic Flute, Bizet’s Carmen, The Old Maid and the Thief, and Arsenic and Old Lace. Mr. Gilbar spent a great deal of time directing musicals and church choirs. As Director of Choral Activities in Virginia and as an Adjunct Professor for Sweet Briar College Choir, he directed and conducted musical ensembles in Oklahoma, Pajama Game, Into the Woods, Meet me in St. Louis, Nunsense, Quilters, and the Little Shop of Horrors. Mr. Gilbar has adjudicated many high school events which include District and State level solo and choral assessments, as well as many show choir competitions. He has had the privilege of being guest choral conductor for many honor and select choirs. In his 17 year tenure at Amherst County High School in Virginia, Mr. Gilbar developed a show choir program based on his philosophies in performance, leadership, and professionalism. Many of his students moved onto college programs, and have become successful performers and educators.

Assistant Director and Accompanist


Megan Shear is the Assistant Director and accompanist for the Gillette College Show Choir.  Growing up in a musical family, Megan has enjoyed music her whole life.  Throughout high school, she participated in all of the musicals and contests she could, including three years of All-State Choir.  Megan has been playing piano and singing for 26 years, and loves every minute.

Megan graduated from Black Hills State University in 2008 with a Bachelors Degree in Vocal and Instrumental Music Education. During her college career, she was involved in several opera workshops, elite vocal ensembles, and piano performance clubs.  Megan's teaching experience also includes private voice and instrumental lessons, as well as leading music worship teams at her previous churches.

Prior to working at Gillette College, Megan was involved in numerous music ensembles.  She accompanied the Campbell County Children’s Chorale for 6 years, as well as musicals, and many high school vocal and instrumental solo competitions.  Megan also had the privilege of accompanying the Wyoming Northeast Honor Choir under the direction of Marcia Patton in 2014.

Megan lives in Gillette, Wyoming with her husband Jared, and two sons Carson and Caden Shear.
